Logistics Division

The Logistics Captain for Lowndes County Fire Rescue (LCFR) plays a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency and readiness of the department. This position is responsible for the coordination, support, and oversight of all logistical needs related to equipment, vehicles, supplies, and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet and Equipment Maintenance
     Coordinates maintenance, repair, and annual testing programs for fire apparatus and departmental vehicles to ensure compliance and operational reliability.
  • Supplies & Inventory Management
     Oversees the ordering and distribution of medical supplies, fire station consumables, uniforms, and turnout gear. Maintains inventory control systems and ensures proper stock levels across the department.
  • Apparatus and PPE Management
     Assists in the development of specifications for fire apparatus; participates in pre-bid meetings and onsite inspections. Coordinates the distribution and documentation of firefighting PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in compliance with NFPA standards.
  • Facility & Grounds Coordination
     Acts as the liaison for all fire station repairs and grounds maintenance needs across the department’s facilities.
  • Vendor and Contract Management
     Establishes and maintains vendor relationships to ensure quality, timely, and cost-effective services and equipment procurement.
  • Policy & Budget Support
     Assists in the development and interpretation of departmental policies and procedures. Plays a key role in budget preparation for fire and medical supplies, monitors expenditures, and applies cost-saving strategies.
  • Incident Scene Support
     Responds to emergency incidents to provide on-scene logistical support, including rehab sector management and equipment resupply as needed.

The Logistics Officer is a vital member of the LCFR team, ensuring that firefighters and emergency personnel have the tools, equipment and resources necessary to serve the community safely and effectively. This role combines operational support, technical expertise and strategic planning to maintain readiness and resilience across the department.
