Overview

Lowndes County Animal Services is committed to community safety and the prevention of cruelty to animals. Our goal is to protect the public from stray and dangerous animals. We have dedicated ourselves to providing prompt, professional services to the citizens and animals of our community.

We are dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals through:
  • Educating the public about responsible animal ownership
  • Investigating reported cruelty and abuse cases
  • Operating an adoption center for desirable pets
  • Operating an animal shelter for stray, abandoned, and unwanted animals
The Lowndes County Animal Shelter envisions a time when our community embraces the mutual benefits of the human-animal bond and treats all animals with care and compassion.


Lost Animals

If you have lost your pet you must come to the shelter to identify it. We cannot tell you over the phone if your animal is here. We hold stray animals for 3 business days. Animals with identification (ID tags or microchips) are held for 5 business days.
