Purchasing

Overview

The Lowndes County Purchasing Department is responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment and services needed by all County Departments. These materials and supplies enhance the individual organization to be able to better serve all county citizens by maximizing the use of tax dollars while still ensuring the required quality of the merchandise or service. The Purchasing Department also assists and advises each department, county manager, and Board of Commissioners in the planning and procurement of goods and services. Moreover, Purchasing strives to maximize competition by treating all vendors fairly and equitably during the entire purchasing process.

Vender Responsibilities

After registering with the county, it is the vendor's responsibility to notify the Purchasing Department of any changes in vendor information. Those changes include, but are not limited to, any of the following areas:

  • Vendor name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Fax number
  • Email address
  • Products / services offered

Any change to vendor information must be mailed to this department as soon as possible. A current valid Business License must be mailed upon renewal. Send any changes to: Purchasing Agent
