Please Burn Responsibly- Obtain a Burn Permit before Burning

Fire Picture

Each year, as temperatures begin to rise and residents start preparing for Spring, Lowndes County Fire Rescue experiences an increase in grass fires. Before burning, please remember to call Georgia Forestry at 1-877-OK2-BURN to obtain a free burn permit. After securing a permit, the burning of vegetation/yard waste is allowed in residential areas of unincorporated Lowndes County on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. Please burn responsibly. You are responsible for your fire and your smoke. Burning is not allowed in roadside ditches or on public right of way. In the event a fire begins to spread, call 911 immediately.
