Disaster Information

Overview

Citizens are asked to please not call the 911 Center for information regarding disasters or major emergencies.

Weather Information may be obtained from the National Weather Service Website, local radio and television, and the National Atmospheric Oceanic Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio (WXM 79) transmitting for Lowndes County and area on frequency 162.5 MHz.

Sign Up for Notifications

By creating an account and providing your information you will receive emergency notifications for your specific location.  Examples include Boil Water Notices, Missing Person Alerts, storms, and other weather-related information.  You will also receive notifications from the National Weather Service anytime they issue a Warning for the address associated with your account.  You will not receive any notifications for Warnings issued if your address is not within the specific area designated by the National Weather Service for that particular storm.  If you have trouble with the registration process or have additional questions, you may contact Lowndes County EMA at (229) 671-2790.
